Skip “nice.” Choose KIND.

"Nice" invites everyone in the class to the birthday party, but doesn't really include the less-wanted kid when she attends.

"Nice" compliments your outfit while casually taking note of your wiggly bits.

"Nice" smiles and waves as you drive by, but then calls the homeowners association when you leave your trash bins out overnight.

"Nice" is a surface level peacekeeper- bumping convictions aside for appearances, making a whole lot of space for resentment to move in and get comfortable.

"Nice" is polished, quick, easy, neutral, empty, hurtful, and costly.

Kind is hard. Kind tells the truth. Kind notices the struggle and walks into it. Kind cares enough to be real. Kind takes risks. Kind makes a difference.
